“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are My ways higher than your ways
and My thoughts than your thoughts.”
Isaiah 55:8-9
The world’s way is for us to become stronger and stronger; God’s way is for us to become weaker and weaker…The Normal Christian Life
“God uses the sexual relationship between husband and wife to analogize His depth of love and desire for intimacy with us…The Bible talks about believers as Jesus’ bride who He is perfecting to be without spot or blemish on the wedding day (aka a virgin) (2 Cor. 11:2, Eph. 5:32).” Delight Your Husband p.56
The way the world sees things, once you “lose” your virginity, there is no going back. By definition, ones’ status as a virgin, is where they stand in relation to the act of sex: either they have committed the act (or had it perpetrated upon them) or they have not. Everyone starts out a virgin, however, once their status changes, it is not something that they can ever recover. Even within the church we use examples in youth groups kneading two separate lumps of play-dough together to signify the sexual act and to drive home the lesson that once something like this is done, it cannot be undone; there are lasting consequences for our actions. So how is it that Paul can speak of presenting us (the Church) as “a pure virgin to Christ” 2 Cor. 11:2? For elsewhere we read: “Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, 10 or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. 11 Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” 1 Corinthians 6:9b-11 In other words, God can “undo” what, by definition, it is impossible for man to undo! Praise Him!
