It occurred to me today as I was looking at the charge in Colossians 3:23 to do everything as if you’re “working for the Lord, not for men”, that the abundance of grace that our Father lavishes on us is such that even when we do our good works for Him, there is this overflowing that takes place and blessings pour out to those around us (not to mention our own soul being nourished). He could keep it all to Himself, our service and love for Him, but instead He shares it with the whole body of believers. In fact, He delights to share it! “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for Me.” Matthew 25:40 NIV. A fruit tree is made to bear fruit. It brings glory to its creator when it functions as designed and is healthy and prospering in its own right but its fruit is for the benefit of others.
