Leviticus 25:2

“Tell the people of Isra’el, ‘When you enter the land I am giving you, the land itself is to observe a Shabbat rest for Adonai.”

Leviticus 25:2 CJB

I like the word choice of the above verse in the CJB translation: “a Shabbat rest for Adonai”. Obviously, the rest is for the good of the land and, likewise, for the good of the people; it’s for their benefit. It’s as if God is identifying Himself so closely with His people that anything done to benefit them is done for Him as well.

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’”

Matthew 25:40 NIV
